Young & Restless storylines are set to converge as Nikki’s plight becomes critical and one person emerges as the best bet to save her eyesight and keep her from going blind. Unfortunately, it’s not someone who is currently practicing medicine!
We knew a medical story was coming when Nikki began experiencing sudden debilitating headaches and blurred vision, but our suspicions were clinched when Young & Restless brought Stephanie back to town as the new Chief of Staff at Memorial. “Bring on the hospital set,” we cheered.
Amid these turn of events, different characters began grilling Nate Hastings about his decision to abandon his medical career for the C-suite when the injury he sustained after being slugged by Devon prevented him from performing surgery. Our soapy senses began to tingle well before Nikki’s diagnosis on Monday’s episode confirmed that a mass had grown around her optic nerve. The bad news? Without treatment it could eventually cause her to go blind. Even worse? Surgery to remove the growth could also leave her sightless!
It wasn’t long after this nightmarish dilemma was spelled out that Victoria suggested getting a second opinon from none other than her ex-lover, Nate. Unlike many developments on Young & Restless, this made perfect sense. Although, as Nikki pointed out, the mass is gonna mass regardless of which medical expert weighs in.
Here’s where we sense a twist of fate, a change in the winds, a life-altering switch up, if you will, ahead. If our hunch is correct, all of the plots we’ve mentioned above are set to converge and change everything.
We’re predicting that the conversations that Nate has been having with Stephanie, Audra, etc., surrounding his medical career, not only got him thinking, but were a pre-cursor to something big: not only will Nate discover that he’s regained the use of his hand to perform surgeries, but he’ll decide to cast off the corporate suits for scrubs and return to medicine just in time to save Nikki Newman from certain blindness.
Stephanie, of course, will be beyond thrilled to hire him back as her Chief of Surgery. Victor, who will inevitably play a heroic role in all of this, could call in some favors to cut the red tape so Nate can return immediately.. or just as Nikki’s eyesight begins to go dark, ’cause that would be most dramatic.
