At Crimson Lights, Devon needles Cane about getting himself back into Lily’s good graces by saving Malcolm. Digging in, he points out doing one good thing doesn’t erase the bad things he did.
They bicker as Devon runs down Cane’s transgressions, including getting two people killed. Cane fumes. Is he supposed to suffer for the rest of his life? Devon seems fine with that concept. Cane vows that he’ll prove he’s a better person.
Devon crabs about how many times he’s watched Cane hurt Lily. Cane keeps vowing to prove himself and accuses Devon of trying to provoke him. He wants to punch him but he won’t. “I’m not that man.”
A Disgrace
In the Athletic Club, an off-kilter Nikki spots Lily ending a call. The blonde snidely “congratulates” her about Chancellor and calls her out for lying to her about it previously. Lily explains that Victor hadn’t finalized it when she asked her before. She’s sorry for what Victor did to her, but that’s not on her. Nikki still feels betrayed… having Cane run it is a disgrace.
Lily reminds Nikki that Katherine chose Cane. Nikki argues he’s not the same man today. Lily defends him. Nikki sniffs about the turnaround she’s done on her ex. Lily preaches about second chances, noting that Nikki still loves Victor after everything he’s done. Nikki asks if she’s fallen back in love with Cane… or did she never stop?
Harrowing Update
At Society, Sally tells Billy that their wedding venue fell through. She suggests getting married at the Abbott mansion, but he tells her they can’t. Patty has taken over. They remark on her diabolically disappearing Diane and Billy worries about Jack. At some point, he’ll have to let her believe he’s falling in love with her.
Second Chances
At the Abbott mansion, Jack thanks Kyle and Traci for going along with his plan as Patty busts in with her bags and hugs her man. She hopes he told them that they have to move out. Traci seethes that it’s disgusting how she’s leeched onto Jack. Kyle sneers that neither of them want to stick around and watch it. Patty coos about them rediscovering their love. Kyle, putting on a show, tells Jack he’ll never forgive him for this.
Jack makes a speech about giving Patty a chance. Traci and Kyle get a few more digs in and then Jack shows them to the door. Patty wishes them luck as they file out. Once alone, Patty enthuses to Jack about being “home.”
Outwit and Outplay
In the strange house, Diane calls out for Laurence and tries the locked door. Pacing, she looks for something to help her get out of there. Picking the lock on the desk drawer, she gets a cellphone and pockets it as Laurence enters.
Diane tries cajoling Laurence to let her get some fresh air and apologizes for her earlier behavior. She’s willing to let the process unfold to get answers. She claims she’s beginning to trust him, but she’s worried that transferring to a clinic is the wrong move. She’d like to stay there with him. Laurence reminds her this is his private home. Diane claims she’s afraid of medical facilities and begs him to let her stay.
Naughty and Not Nice
At the Club, Lily and Nikki keep disagreeing about Cane until the Newman gets one of her headaches. They stand as Traci arrives with her luggage. She tells them that Diane has gone missing and Patty has infiltrated Jack’s life. He’s convinced that he has to comply with her demands… he agreed to let her live in the Abbott house with him. Nikki’s suitably appalled and declares that she’s heading over there.
At the Abbott house, Patty tries being seductive with Jack on the sofa. He asks her to slow down. Patty purrs and coos her nonsense, but he still doesn’t want to be naughty with her. He needs to talk to Diane’s doctor. Patty assures that her psychiatrist will call her back with information, but Diane is safe.
When Nikki arrives, Patty is upstairs. Nikki asks Jack what the hell he is thinking! Jack asks her to trust him, but Nikki wants to throw Patty out. As Jack protests, Nikki’s overcome with a head pain. Patty comes down the stairs and welcomes her to their home.
Next Steps
At Crimson Lights, Devon’s still going at Cane when Lily walks in. Devon insists that Katherine wouldn’t trust the con standing in front of them. As he stalks out, Lily apologizes. Cane knows he’s just being protective. She wants to take him somewhere and smiles, “Follow me!”
Returning to Crimson Lights, Lily and Cane talk about having gone to see the new office. Cane wants to be sure this is what she wants. Lily says, “Of course,” and hands him the office keys. Cane grins, “We really are a team now.”
The Final Scenes
At Crimson Lights, Cane tells Lily that Katherine was always rooting for them. She must have had a hand in all of this. Lily agrees. She tells him she’s going back to work, but he needs her to work on Chancellor stuff. They’re going to have to spend a lot of time together. Leaning over, Cane tells Lily, “I think we’re right,” he goes in for a kiss.
At the strange house, Diane’s still trying to convince Laurence to keep her there. He warns there’s a lot of work to be done. She doesn’t want to undo their progress by moving. “Please tell me you agree.” Laurence promises to think about it.
At Society, Billy recaps to Sally that Jack’s sidelined everyone to try and win Patty’s trust. Sally admires him for wanting to protect his brother, but he has a family of his own. Billy vows he won’t be distracted from what they’re building. They debate if Jack’s doing the right thing. All Billy can do is hope his brother can outsmart her.
At the Abbott mansion, Nikki informs Patty that this is not her home and Jack’s a married man. Patty laughs her off. Since when is she a fan of Diane Jenkins? Nikki gets angrier when Patty suggests she focus on her own marriage.
Nikki warns Patty her plan won’t work and tells Jack she hopes he knows what he’s doing. Once alone, Patty strokes Jack’s chest. “Alone at last.” Outside, Nikki’s vision blurs and she staggers away, disoriented.
Inside, Patty tells Jack she took a guestroom, knowing her being there may take some time for him to get used to. Jack warns it may take awhile. Patty’s sure it’s only a matter of time before he gives himself over to her. Jack can’t make his feeling for Diane go away. Patty says he doesn’t have to pretend. Her door will be unlocked, and he can come to her whenever he’s ready. She’s convinced it will happen sooner than he thinks.
