Patty’s endgame has become crystal clear: become the next Mrs. Jack Abbott. What will become of Diane? Given the level of crazy we’re dealing with here, death wouldn’t be off the cards, however, if our hunch is correct, Patty has a more twisted scheme in mind… and she may not have come up with it all on her own.
In starting to put the pieces together, it’s important to note that we’re all but certain that Patty’s in cahoots, not with a psychotherapist named Laurence Markham, but with the evil Martin Laurent. Find out why we think so here.
How would Patty get hooked up with Martin? Why, in a psychiatric facility of course. Patty, as far as we knew, was stashed in Rivercrest permanently. If that’s where Martin was sent as part of his sentence for defrauding Traci and torturing and nearly killing Sharon and Phyllis, it’s a no-brainer he’d connect with Patty given their mutual interest in the Abbott family.

As Young & Restless fans will recall, Martin fancied himself a better psychiatrist than his late brother Alan, and not for nothing. He is certainly a master manipulator on a grand scale. We’re imagining if Patty told him she wanted to be with Jack but Diane was in the way, he might have taken that as something of a challenge.

When Victor intervened to have Patty released, Martin may have agreed to help her in return for her enabling his escape. That’s all unclear. But their scheme to reunite Patty and Jack and dispense with Diane became increasingly clear in Tuesday’s episode when Laurence began therapizing the latter.

We may be barking up the wrong tree, but it seems obvious that Patty and Laurence’s plot involves him shrinking Diane into turning against Jack, and trying to convince her to move on from him, leaving Patty to pick up the pieces and marry her beloved.

Even if Diane were to escape, with all of the doubts planted firmly in her psyche, returning to the Abbott manse to find Jack living with Patty would validate her fears. In fact, it would be her worst nightmare (the one she had in her Club suite before being abducted) come to life!

Presumably, Diane will make a run for it without ever speaking to Kyle or Jack and finding out that Patty coerced her way into the house, or that Jack played along only because he was terrified for his wife.
Whether Patty will get what she wants in the end remains to be seen, but either way, Patty and Laurence/Martin’s plot will have ended Jack and Diane’s marriage for good.
