Gogglebox fans were left devastated after Channel 4 star Shirley Griffiths issued a huge announcement to viewers. The 71-year-old, who has been a sofa critic with her husband, Dave, since 2015, shared a photo of herself on Instagram enjoying the sunshine. In the sun-soaked snap, the Welsh native was all smiles as she raised a glass to her time on the programme. Taking to the caption, Shirley wrote: “Happy #gogglebox Friday everyone, last one of the series, hope you have a lovely summer love Dave and Shirley xx #summer.”
The TV star confirmed the end of Gogglebox’s series 27, which first landed on screens in February, leaving fans eager for its return to screens. In the comments, one questioned: “Already? I thought you all finished in June time. Aww I’ll miss you pair.” As another added: “It won’t be the same without seeing you both every Fri!” (sic)
A third penned: “Thanks for hours of brilliant entertainment, enjoy your summer and look forward to seeing you soon.”
A devastated fan added: “You will be missed but look forward to the laughter again….thank you, have a wonderful summer!”
“You two both have a lovely Summer & thank you for all the entertainment you have brought to everyone from February; now in on a countdown til the beginning of September… Have a great Summer Shirl,” praised a fourth.

This comes just months after Shirley celebrated her 71st birthday in March. The Gogglebox star was inundated with well wishes as she shared a selfie with Dave on their joint Instagram account.
She captioned the post: “Thanks to everyone for my lovely presents on my 71st birthday and happy St Patrick’s day to everyone.”
Alongside comments from viewers, fellow Gogglebox stars Jenny and Lee said: “Have a fabulous day Shirley, much love.” As other responses included: “Happy birthday to the ever hilarious Shirl, who makes me laugh so much,” and “Happy Happy Birthday Shirley, I hope it was filled with everything you love.”
