Kyle told Jack that he was officially worried about Diane since she hadn’t returned anyone’s messages or been seen in days. At first, Jack wasn’t concerned, thinking she just wanted space, but when Kyle told him that she was a no-show for a meeting she’d anticipated for months, his point of view changed.
Meanwhile, at Crimson Lights, Phyllis called Nick, but he didn’t answer. She left a message saying she just wanted to hear his voice and said they should talk. Patty approached her, demanding to know where Matt was.
The two of them argued about who was worse, who was the better person, who Matt was, and whether Matt would be better or worse off with Patty in his life. Jack and Kyle interrupted, and Jack asked Patty what she did with Diane.
Phyllis told them to check the peanut butter aisle and left, and Patty soothed that it must be painful to realize his wife wanted nothing to do with him. She told Kyle that Diane had left them before and probably would again.
When Jack and Kyle argued, Patty advised that if they were going to insist that she couldn’t change, then they should accept that Diane couldn’t, either, and that she left them — again.
Nick Is Released From The Hospital

At the ranch, Victoria and Adam joined Sharon, Victor, and Noah at the main house to see Nick, who had be discharged from the hospital already. Noah noted that the early release felt all too familiar and how they wound up in this mess. Nonetheless, Victoria ripped into Nick about doing something so dumb as falling off the wagon and wanted to know how he went from rehab daily to using.
Victor wanted to know that as well, but Nick said it could wait. He wanted to know where Matt was, but Victor wouldn’t say anything other than he was being held somewhere. Nikki came in and joined the barrage of questioning.
Nick told them what he remembered of the night before, and they told him how Matt and Phyllis saved his life. Nick was infuriated that they let Matt touch him, so they told him that his heart had stopped and he had no pulse.
Nick’s Not Happy About Who He Owes

Nick wanted to know how they didn’t know Matt wouldn’t murder him. “Because you were already gone, Nicholas,” Sharon repeated. She admitted she did stand in his way, but the paramedic told them that Matt and Phyllis saved his life, “probably.”
Nick could see Phyllis trying to save him, but didn’t know what Matt would be getting out of saving him. They debated whether or not Matt deserved the benefit of the doubt. Noah said that even if Matt had amnesia, the real Matt was still inside. Sharon agreed that Matt’s memories may be buried, but his crimes haven’t gone away.
The group then debated what they should do with Matt. Victoria wanted him handed over to Detective Burrow so he could go to prison, but Nick interjected. He insisted he needed to see Matt immediately, face to face. “Dad…please,” he asked.
Phyllis Comes To See Nick

Victor agreed and took Adam with them, so Noah left to check on Sienna at home. While talking to Sharon, Nikki had another headache, but then Phyllis came by to ask about Nick. They told her he was released from the hospital and thanked her for saving his life. Phyllis told Victoria and Nikki that it was Matt who did most of the saving.
Phyllis admitted that she was conflicted about handing Matt over to Victor because the guy she’d been talking to really didn’t remember who he was and what he’d done and genuinely wanted to help save Nick.
Nikki told Phyllis that she had taken everything from their family and caused a lot of pain, but at the moment, all she could say was thank you. They asked Phyllis about making a deal with Nick instead of Victor, but she said that she had to because Victor hated her and Nick was the rational one.
Nikki wanted to know exactly what her deal was. Phyllis declined and asked to see Nick instead.
Adam and Victor Discuss Phyllis

Meanwhile, in the study, Adam and Victor talked about the night before and what it was like for that moment when Nick’s heart stopped. They agreed that despite their anger for Phyllis, in that moment, she was his ex-wife and the mother of his child, who wanted to save him, and she did.
Adam asked if it changed Victor’s perspective of wanting to see Phyllis behind bars. Victor said that in that moment, he would have given a thousand empires to get Nick back.
Nick Confronts Matt Alone

In Victor’s home gym, Nick walked in to see Matt, who seemed glad to see that he was okay. He questioned how he suddenly knew how to help, but Matt said it was like a flash of knowledge that comes with some instinct. Matt told Nick that Phyllis had explained the things he’d done, including being a drug dealer, and assumed that’s where his experience came from.
Matt described the flashes of memory he gets, like being in a club in Los Angeles, not knowing how he knows it’s L.A., but it is. Matt said that he could see how much people loved him, and knew that no one ever looked at him that way. He said it was rough to know the things he did, and that he was capable of such things.
“So what, this is your redemption?” Nick fumed. Matt said he didn’t know but hoped that saving him got him one step closer to saving his own soul. Nick’s fury grew as he realized he wasn’t getting the satisfaction of justice because Matt didn’t remember anything. He lunged at Matt, warning that he could end him and no one would know.
Matt beat on the punching bag a few times, then ran at Matt, fist extended. Matt held him back, looking fearful as Nick yelled.
