For years, fans have followed Gethin Jones’ journey both on and off the screen, but one chapter continues to capture the most attention — his search for lasting happiness.

Gethin Jones has been a familiar face on our screens for decades — from his early days on Blue Peter to his current role presenting Morning Live. But behind the camera, fans have long wondered: what’s going on in the 48-year-old presenter’s love life?
From high-profile flings to quiet heartbreaks, Gethin’s journey in romance has been just as eventful as his TV career. Here’s everything you need to know.
A High-Profile Engagement That Didn’t Last
Gethin has never been married, but he did get engaged — and it made headlines. After meeting Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins on Strictly Come Dancing in 2007, the pair began dating. By February 2011, they had announced their engagement. However, before the year was out, the couple called things off.
Reflecting on the relationship in an interview with Oti Mabuse, Gethin admitted how transformative it had been.

“It was weird for me as I met someone on the show and that was bizarre, because she was super high profile and I hadn’t experienced any kind of fame,” he said. “I had gone from Blue Peter to the biggest show on telly dating a world-famous singer. I took a lot of self-confidence from being able to express myself dancing, but everything sort of changed with this relationship developing.”

He also told OK! in 2012:

“The plan was always to go home to Wales, get married, have children, and teach my children to speak Welsh. However, you just never know what’s going to happen, do you?”

Brief Romance with Lucy Mecklenburgh
After parting ways with Katherine, Gethin briefly dated TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh, who is 13 years younger. The relationship never became official, thanks to their busy schedules.
Lucy later described Gethin as “the nicest guy” and confirmed:

“We went out a few times a while ago but it was bad timing for both of us. It was a mutual thing.”

Gethin also shared a year-long romance with model Katja Zwara, known for appearing in Olly Murs’ Dance With Me Tonight music video. Their relationship ended in 2018, again due to hectic work commitments.
In 2023, Gethin was spotted out with First Dates waitress Cici Coleman, attending a West End performance of 2:22 A Ghost Story together. Sources said the pair had “grown close and been spending time together,” sparking speculation about a new chapter in his love life.
More recently, Gethin was linked to Morning Live co-host Helen Skelton. After attending the TV BAFTAs together in May, onlookers claimed their chemistry suggested something deeper than friendship. A source even remarked:

“It was very clear that Helen and Gethin were together as a couple at the event. Their connection was undeniable.”

However, by summer, reports cooled. Gethin appeared on a dating app, and Helen confirmed:

“We just work together, we are not together. No, no, no. We are just work friends.”

Gethin’s sister once jokingly explained why romance seems tricky for him:

“He does tend to have a type… They’ve got to tick every box, and if there’s one tiny thing wrong — like if their middle toes are longer than their big toe — he goes off them.”

Despite past heartbreaks, Gethin has always been clear about wanting to settle down and have children. In 2016, he told The Sun:

“My relationship history has taught me that it’s not good to settle. I hope one day I am blessed to be married and have children, but you can’t force the issue. And the older I get, the more relaxed I feel about it.”

Gethin hasn’t ruled out adoption either. In 2023, he revealed:

“I always wanted to have kids, but adopt too… I learned a lot watching a friend go through it. You’ve got to be ready, it’s a huge commitment. But seeing heartbreaking stories through my charity work, I just think I’d love to be able to save a child in that sense.”

From high-profile heartbreaks to quiet hopes of  family, Gethin’s love life shows a man who values meaningful connections above all. At 48, the presenter’s story reminds us that love isn’t always about timing — sometimes it’s about patience, self-growth, and the hope that the right chapter is still to come.
