Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that the week of June 8, Beyond the Gates is welcoming Young & Restless’ Jack, Diane, Kyle, Devon, Abby and Victor to Fairmont Crest for an epic, multi-episode crossover event. But if you’re not already watching daytime’s newest drama — and you should be; Soaps.com named it the best of 2025 — you might worry that you won’t understand Who’s Who and what’s going on. Well, fear not, for we’re about to tell you everything you need to know — sorta a CliffsNotes for Beyond the Gates beginners.
What Brings Young & Restless to Beyond the Gates?
The Genoa City contingent descends on the DMV to attend a black-tie fundraiser for Congressman Martin Richardson, whose grandfather Vernon Dupree is old pals with Victor. (You can read what the Dupree family patriarch’s portrayer Clifton Davis says about the characters’ mutual respect here.)
Determined to rub elbows with the elite crowd is nouveau-riche villainess Leslie, who’s only slightly less unwelcome than the tornado that tears through the event. She’s sure to get in the face of Vernon’s wife Anita, once the Diana Ross of a Supremes-like act called The Articulettes. (Leslie’s late mother was also a member of the girl group; hence, her windfall.)
Dire Straits
Martin’s divorced parents are doc Ted, who’s now dating scene-stealing Nurse Shanice, and shrink Nicole, who’s dating hospital colleagues Kial and Carlton while fantasizing about her ex-husband. Ted and Nicole’s daughter, Martin’s kid sister Kat loathes half sibling Eva, who is a souvenir of Ted’s long-ago affair with Leslie.
Got all that? It’s juicy! Vernon and Anita’s other daughter, Nicole’s sister, is model Dani, whose impulsive marriage to shutterbug Andre has developed into a serious and seriously sweet relationship. Trouble is, she can’t help but be drawn back over and over again to her former spouse, remorseful cheat Bill. (This is why Dani and Bill are sometimes regarded as the next-gen Victor and Nikki.)
Risque Business
We should also mention that Bill is now married to “other woman” Hayley, a card-carrying conniver who’s been slowly poisoning him for months in hopes of becoming a merry widow. The heat-seeking missus has already thrown herself at Eva’s boyfriend Izaiah, but at this particular event, she finds herself having a close encounter with Kyle. And from the looks of it, he has no intention of resisting her charms.
Shades of Tara Locke all over again, right?!?
