If thereâs one thing soap fans love, itâs the return of a beloved character, but unfortunately that has been ruled out for one popular face of Coronation Streetâs past.
In recent scenes of the ITV soap, fans picked up on what they thought may have been a small hint when Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) mentioned Boyzone.
Fans of the iconic â90s boy band will remember that Keith Duffy was a fixture on the cobbles for two lengthy stints as barman and chef Ciaran McCarthy.
He first arrived in 2002 as a friend of Peter Barlow from his time in the navy.
During his first stint, he dated Sunita Alahan, but the pair split on their wedding day. In 2005, Ciaran left the cobbles after clashing with abuser Charlie Stubbs.
In 2010, he returned to Weatherfield, and this time it was Michelle Connor who was the object of his affections.

Once again, their relationship sadly came to an end just before their wedding, after Michelle discovered that heâd gambled away the money theyâd put aside for the celebrations.
In 2011, he returned to his life working on a cruise ship, while Michelle opted to stay behind.
However, it doesnât look like heâll be coming back to Coronation Street any time soon, as Keith responded to the mention of his band on screen by ruling it out.
âSomebody sent [the clip] to me, thatâs the only reason I saw it!â He told the Irish Mirror.
âI did think, âThatâs a bit bizarre,â because I was the barman in the Rovers, Pauline was in the Rovers as her character talking about Boyzone. There were so many coincidences at the same time.

âI wondered what was going on. Maybe it was the writers having fun? Iâve no plans to go back. So no, thereâs no will to go back.â
Keith is set to reunite with his Boyzone bandmates this week for their One For The Road: Live At Emirates Stadium concerts, which are set to be the biggest shows of their career.
The band will take to the stage in London this weekend, with support from S-Club on Friday, June 5 and B*Witched on Saturday, June 6.
âWeâve been truly blown away and humbled by the response to the documentary this year. The love weâve felt from fans all over the world has inspired us to create the ultimate experience together, headlining our own stadium show,â the band said, according to Ticketmaster.
âThe four of us canât wait to stand together again and enjoy One For The Road.â
