The Newman family on The Young and the Restless has endured their fair share of ups and downs. Right now, they are ready to come together to support the matriarch of the Newman family, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott).

Adam’s Mother, Hope, Was Blind from the Time She Was a Baby
Nikki is facing the possibility of permanent blindness. She recently underwent a life-altering procedure to remove a mass that had been pressing on her optic nerve.
Nikki was experiencing debilitating headaches and blurry vision. She finally went to the doctor, who explained to her that there was no guarantee she would ever regain her eyesight, even after the surgery.
However, her doctor warned her that if she regains her eyesight, it may take days or even weeks to return. In the meantime, all Nikki can do is wait to learn her fate.
While she has a lot of support from the Newmans, one family member may become Nikki’s strongest source of support: Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).
Adam may understand the complexities of blindness better than anyone else. He grew up living on a farm in Kansas with his kindhearted mother, Hope Wilson (Signy Coleman).
At one point, Adam was temporarily blind. So, he knows the challenges a blind person faces. Despite the friction that has defined Nikki and Adam’s relationship, he could really help her.
Nikki Could Benefit from the Support of Someone Who Understands Her Condition
Adam has evolved since he first arrived in Genoa City. When Adam was first on the soap, he did many despicable things. He’s since become a better person, and his family recognizes it.
Adam truly helped his brother, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), come to terms with his addiction to opioids after he accompanied him to Las Vegas to hunt down Matt Clark (Roger Howarth)
He’s also proven himself as a loyal son to Victor Newman (Eric Braden). Adam is also a good father to his son, Conner Newman (Judah Mackey).
Nikki has reason to fear that her blindness may be permanent. Usually, in these cases, the fear is much worse than the actual diagnosis.
Nick and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) will obviously be by her side. However, Nikki would certainly benefit from the support of someone who understands exactly what she’s going through.
If Adam could be there for Nikki, it would be a huge change in their family dynamics. It would be refreshing to see them finally get along as well.
Y&R fans will see Nikki face some challenges throughout this ordeal, but ultimately, I think her condition won’t lead to permanent blindness.
Since Nikki is moving into the Newman Ranch, she’ll also likely reunite with Victor. So, she’ll have his support, too.
However, if Adam can help Nikki, it would be a very powerful storyline to watch them bond and finally find some common ground as family.
