Sir Rod Stewart sent fans into a frenzy after nearly collapsing on stage during a Utah concert on Friday night. The 81-year-old rock legend was performing his hit Young Turks when he appeared unsteady and in visible discomfort.
Footage shared online shows Rod gasping for air and clutching a screen to stay upright. Staff rushed on with an oxygen tank, placing a mask over his face while cold towels were applied to his neck. Despite the scare, the singer joked with the audience:
“The show must go on. I was trying to dance and nearly fainted.”
Displaying his trademark humour, Rod asked if he could perform the next song seated on stage steps, before finishing the set in a chair — much to the relief of his fans.
This incident follows a string of health-related cancellations. Last month, the singer postponed two Las Vegas shows at Caesars Palace on doctors’ orders for vocal rest. Shortly after, Stewart was forced to cancel four more dates across Nevada and California due to laryngitis and flu recovery.
Rod’s Instagram Story at the time explained:
“I travelled to the venue and made every effort to perform, but on the advice of my doctor, following a diagnosis of an acute upper respiratory infection, I am unable to take the stage tonight.”
Fans were quick to flood social media with support, praising the legendary rocker for powering through and still entertaining the crowd despite his health struggles.
At 81, Stewart remains one of rock’s most enduring icons — though fans hope he takes the necessary rest to recover fully before returning to the road.
