Total Eclipse Of The Heart singer Bonnie Tyler was recently taken to hospital for a perforated intestine and now doctors have placed her into an induced coma to aid her recovery.

Singer Bonnie Tyler is in an induced coma after she was rushed to hospital in Portugal. The 74-year-old recently went in for emergency surgery for a perforated intestine and it was initially reported she was “recuperating”. However on Thursday night it was revealed doctors have now placed the Holding Out For A Hero singer into an induced coma at Faro Hospital.
Bonnie was born in South Wales and divides her time between there and Portugal. Last night a representative for the songstress said: “Bonnie has been put into an induced coma by her Doctors to aid her recovery. We know that you all wish her well and ask for privacy at this difficult time please. We will issue a further statement when we are able to.”

The news was somewhat surprising after it was implied on Wednesday that the surgery had gone well. On 6 May, a representative for the songstress said: “We are very sorry to announce that Bonnie has been admitted to hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she has a home, for emergency intestinal surgery.
“The surgery went well and she is now recuperating. We know that all of her family, friends, and fans will be concerned about this news and will be wishing her well for a full and swift recovery.”
However, local Portuguese media outlet Correio da Manha reported on Thursday that Bonnie has been moved into an intensive care ward. They reported: “Bonnie Tyler is in an induced coma after several days at Faro Hospital following intestinal surgery.”
It is understood that Bonnie was originally rushed to hospital on 30 April.

She has upcoming scheduled appearances at Malta’s SummerLUST Music Festival on 22 May and on other dates across Germany, Hungary, Czechia, Scotland and Turkey
The chart-topping singer is best-known for her 80s hits Holding Out For A Hero and Total Eclipse Of The Heart, the latter of which reached the number one spot.
She also represented the UK in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest with her song Believe In Me, which placed her in the 19th spot.
