Coronation Street spoilers as Daniel’s left for dead and there’s a surprise arrest

Lisa is under pressure as Theo Silverton’s murder probe continues in the ITV soap next week

Just when you think the drama is over, tensions are growing in next week’s Coronation Street as Daniel Osbourne’s life is left in danger and DS Lisa Connor-Swain is facing pressure over the Theo Silverton murder investigation.

As an anxious Daniel Osbourne prepares for his return to work, his son, Bertie, presents him with a ‘World’s Best Teacher’ mug. Once at school, in the corridor, Lily Platt taunts Daniel by reading out his online troll, ‘Truthteller2’s’, latest posts.

So when she purposely bashes into Daniel, he’s gutted to find his new mug smashed to pieces and breaks down in tears, while Jake Windass films the outburst on his phone.

It’s not long before Daniel barrels into the Rovers on a mission to get drunk, but when Adam Barlow bans Sean Tully from serving him, Daniel storms out. Spotting Megan in the precinct, Daniel lets rip at her for ruining his life. Is Megan in danger?

Later, Daniel checks his laptop for further vile posts, and as Jodie Ramsey makes a throwaway remark, he realises with horror that she’s his troll. Daniel rounds on Jodie, fuming about how she’s caused him sleepless nights, paranoia and depression whilst acting as his confidante.

Jodie swears that Truthteller2 has nothing to do with her, but Daniel throws her out. Once again drunk in the Rovers, Daniel announces that Jodie is his online stalker. Feigning tears, Jodie hurries out.

Once back home, Bertie says he’s starving, but too drunk to care. Daniel falls asleep on the sofa. As Bertie sets about making his own tea, smoke pours from the kitchen, and he dashes out, leaving Daniel dead to the world. As Bertie wanders the streets, has Daniel’s negligence left them both in danger?

It appears not, as soon, Daniel is woken by a call from school informing him that Bertie hasn’t turned up. As Daniel takes in his surroundings, he realises with horror that there’s no sign of Bertie. Later, as Adam and Daniel go at each other hammer and tongs over his irresponsible parenting, Adam references his late wife, Sinead, and Daniel loses it. Lashing out, he accidentally catches Ken and sends him staggering.

As the week draws to a close, Tracy Barlow spells out to Ken and Adam that Daniel isn’t fit to look after himself and they need to do something about it. So when Daniel calls at No. 1, hoping to smooth things over with Ken, he’s put out when Ken insists that Adam and Tracy be part of the discussion too. When Ken suggests that he’s heading down the same alcoholic path as Peter, Daniel storms out. But when social services arrive on his doorstep, Daniel’s horrified.

Previously speaking of Jodie, after a row with Shona Platt, Jodie offers an ear. When she reminds him about the time he climbed into bed with her and claims he even said her name, so he must have known it was her, David is floored. As he makes up with Shona, will a guilt-stricken David come clean?

Later, as Jodie makes a veiled dig at David about saying her name, David squirms. David shares his worries with Maria Windass, who advises him to come clean with Shona and tell her how Jodie reckons he called her by name. Will David take her advice?

Meanwhile, at the salon, Maria reveals that Sarah Platt has forgotten her daughter, Bethany’s, birthday. Gary Windass leaps to Sarah’s defence, and Maria is taken aback. The family later gather at the bistro for Bethany’s birthday party, but as Jodie bangs on about Theo Silverton’s murder, the atmosphere is ruined.

As for the investigation into Theo’s murder, Lisa tells Todd Grimshaw she’s interviewed Theo’s ex-wife, Danielle. In the visiting room, a distressed Summer Spellman reveals to Todd that she’s considering pleading guilty to manslaughter as it seems her only option. Todd’s heartbroken for her as he opens up to Sarah. Later, Todd asks Lisa if he can have his phone back from the police now, but her response floors Todd.

Back at home, Lisa moans to her wife, Carla Connor-Swain, about her new boss and how she’s happy to let Summer take the rap for Theo’s murder without looking further afield. Meanwhile, with Todd’s phone having been found at a pawn shop, Lisa orders it to be sent to forensics.

At the end of the week, Lisa arrives and arrests Brody Michaelis on suspicion of theft. Sally and Tim Metcalfe watch in shock as Lisa leads a protesting Brody to her car, after forensics found his fingerprints all over Todd’s phone, while DC Kit Green listens with concern. Can Brody explain himself, or is he now in the frame for Theo’s murder?

Also in Weatherfield, in the pub, Carl Webster sidles over to Tyrone and tells him he can see fear in his eyes, it’s obvious he’s hiding something, and he intends to find out what it is.

Meanwhile, Fiz Dobbs invites Sam Blakeman round, hoping he and Hope will rekindle their friendship and she’ll forget about Will. But Hope refuses to have tea with Sam and asserts she’s going out with Will. How will Sam react as his mind plays tricks on him?
