There are big things ahead for Maria Connor in Coronation Street, actress Samia Longchambon has confirmed.
Maria is involved in the whodunnit storyline surrounding Theo Silvertonâs murder, thanks to husband Gary Windass (Mikey North) and his suspicious activities.
Gary is a major suspect in the investigation, with Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) convinced heâs hiding something, and Maria risked everything when she gave him a false alibi.
So far, it looks like Maria genuinely believes that Gary is innocent â but how would she react if she were proved wrong?
âI honestly donât know, because she does love him and because heâs such a good stepdad to Liam,â Samia told Inside Soap.
âMariaâs family values are her priority. It would take a lot for her to leave Gary because sheâs so focused on keeping her family together.â

Whatever happens on the home front for Gary and Maria, Samia has promised âlife-changingâ events ahead for multiple Corrie characters.
âThe next few weeks are going to be life-changing for quite a few of the characters, and possibly including Maria,â she revealed.
âI feel like itâs one of those storylines that will go down in the history books in Corrie. Thereâs going to be twists and turns that will not be expectedâŠâ
It isnât just Theoâs murder that fans think Gary is keeping secrets about, with countless viewers speculating that he may be having an affair with Sarah Platt (Tina OâBrien).

Sarah and Gary have a complicated history, having previously dated for three years between 2016 and 2019. However, the animosity they shared after their break-up has been nonexistent recently, and they have been showing each other a lot of support.
Viewers arenât the only ones to suspect something is afoot, as Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) has started throwing around accusations of infidelity after hearing Sarah on the phone with Gary.
Is Jodie right to be suspicious? And could she be set to reveal all and blow up Mariaâs life? Could this be what Samia is referring to?
Or, is Maria more involved in Theoâs murder than sheâs let on?
